 INTRODUCTION:  THE SPECIALIST BEHIND SIMPLYBD 

Founded in 2023, SimplyBD was created to address a challenge Alix Johnstone-Morfoisse had observed throughout her career in the nuclear sector: suppliers often struggle to connect with the organisations and decision-makers who need their services or products. SimplyBD was established to bridge that gap, providing specialist business development support that helps suppliers navigate this complex market and engage more effectively with prospective customers. As the business grew, Alix began expanding the team in 2025 to support increasing demand and broaden SimplyBD's capabilities.

 CHALLENGE:  EXPANDING IT SYSTEMS BEHIND A GROWING    TEAM 

As SimplyBD continued to grow, Alix was managing much of the business using Google-based tools, while Microsoft was primarily used for document management and Teams meetings. Over time, however, she recognised that adopting Microsoft more fully would make it easier to collaborate with customers and partners across the nuclear sector, where Microsoft 365 is widely used.

"In the nuclear sector, being able to work seamlessly through Teams is often an important part of collaboration", says Alix.

As the business expanded, Alix needed support to strengthen cybersecurity, prepare for new starters, and ensure her systems aligned with the expectations of customers operating in regulated environments. Alongside this, she was looking to achieve Cyber Essentials certification and wanted an IT partner with experience of the nuclear industry.

labdesk moved SimplyBD off Google Workspace and onto Microsoft 365, taking the email, the files and the accounts across in one go. labdesk's M365 Accelerator installed the correct security policies, controls and ongoing management behind it for Alix, supporting SimplyBD to achieve its Cyber Essentials Accreditation. A bespoke Microsoft SharePoint workspace was built so Alix and her team could work from the same documents in the same place, and new team members were onboarded with help from the labdesk team to get to grips with SimplyBD's IT systems.

For Alix, it was especially helpful knowing there was support for her and her team to ask any questions to do with IT by jumping on a call with a member of the labdesk leadership team.
