labdesk at Nu-Tech 2026: AI Innovation, Collaboration… and LEGO

Nu-Tech 2026 at Birchwood Park brought together some of the most forward-thinking organisations in the nuclear and advanced engineering sectors, all focused on one thing: how to innovate safely, efficiently, and at scale.

labdesk was proud to be there, meeting teams from across the nuclear supply chain who are dealing with complex projects, strict regulations, and rising expectations on performance and reporting.

For us, three themes stood out in conversations:

  1. AI Innovation under regulation. Simplicity >

Organisations are under pressure to modernise in the wake of AI, but every change has to fit within a demanding regulatory framework. The conversations we had were less about “shiny tech” and more about practical ways to simplify... making daily work more traceable, auditable, and efficient. Using one or two Microsoft AI models: Copilot and Cowork, to quietly keep your workplace data secure. Letting you achieve more with less in the office.

Importantly, most technical businesses genuinely don't realise that their corporate competitors are already saving their employees hours per week in time, energy, and pay (yes, AI now means smaller overheads) just by installing Microsoft's two latest agentic models and actually using them together in a way that gives your employees unprecedented levels of efficiency. All while keeping private company data secure, in-house, and under regulation.

  2. Microsoft Data, visibility, and Cowork

Many teams told us their biggest challenge is scattered information across their Microsoft SharePoint. Different sites, partners, and systems make it hard to get a clear view of what is happening, where the risks are, and what needs attention. This is exactly the kind of problem labdesk was built to solve. And with Microsoft Cowork now available, agents are here to make your time ROI a priority. Any over-tinkering with Microsoft presentations, SharePoint organisation, and Excel sheets is officially a thing of the past.

  3. Our LEGO Giveaway!!

The sector knows it needs to keep bringing in new solutions and new ideas. That is one reason we ran our massive LEGO giveaway on the stand. It was a fun way to get people talking about their latest ideas, solutions, and projects while dropping in for a chance to win two awesome sets!! (Ben is especially jealous we're giving them away...)

And speaking of Ben, a warm welcome to our Marketing Executive, Benjamin Villette! Ben joined us in May 2026 to help and is an official labdesker!

Signing off... Nu-Tech 2026 was a strong reminder that innovation in the nuclear sector is about more than hardware. It is about how efficiency, data, and processes are coming together under exciting opportunities with agentic AI. Businesses that hop on this Microsoft Copilot and Cowork Polar Express before it leaves the station are in for an unfair advantage!
